I wasn’t always a reader. It wasn’t until I turned 16 that I thought seriously about reading and maybe writing something someday. But once I started, there was no going back. It became an addiction. Apparently, the only one that is healthy. You can make deep connections with books and they will become your lifelong friends. But being a book lover has its own problems. The only people who can get these are fellow bookworms and book-lovers. But how do we know if someone is truly a book lover? Well, we have a solution.

If you understand these nine things, you are proudly and officially a book-lover-
- A Lifetime is not Enough to Read all Books– No matter how much books you read; it will never be enough. There will always be books which will be left out.

2. Bookstores are heaven on earth– Once you go inside a bookstore, hours will turn into minutes and you will lose any sense of time and place. Bookstores are cosy and pleasant. There cannot be a better place on earth for readers and bookworms other than a bookstore.
3. You are always short on the budget– If you find yourself wondering, “Where did all my money go?” It was spent on buying books that you still haven’t read. Book-buying is a legit problem but it is also so much fun. Every book-lover knows that it is almost impossible to not buy anything when you step into a bookstore.
4. Your books are ‘precious’ to you– When it comes to books you turn into Gollum. Books are precious to you. You cannot let anything happen to them. They are precious than diamonds to you.

5. You prefer books to people– Books are always better company than people. You get emotionally attached to books. Every good book has the ability to create memories for the reader.
6. You understand the beauty of solitude– You only want to be left alone with your books and your thoughts. When it’s just you and your books, a bubble is created, cut off from the humdrum of the noisy world. It’s just you, your book and the peace within.

7. Fictional world is way better than the real world– Real world cannot compete with the fictional one. A world where anything can happen, where you can be anyone or anything, you can go anywhere you want, has to be better than the mundane reality we all have to live in.
8. A good book can become a perfect holiday– Reading a good book is like going on a journey. It is an escape. It can refresh your mind like nothing else can.

9. Borrowing is a big NO! – Book-lovers get anxiety when someone wants to borrow their books. You don’t want your book to get Bendy-Spine syndrome or dog ears or ugly doodles drawn on your book. Some people are just not capable of taking care of books and you cannot let them borrow yours. It’s a real problem because if you refuse, you have an obsession and you cannot let it go. But book-lovers know how valuable books are to them and each book deserves to be treated respectfully.
