It’s that time of year again where everybody is dreaming of their next great adventure. Travel can be expensive, and there are some who feel a little more comfortable in their own home. So this post is for the travelers and the dreamers, all about magical destinations that are only found in books that I would go to in a minute if I could!

  1. Rathe Castle in The Swan’s Daughter by Roshani Chokshi

With strong Encanto “Casita” vibes, Rathe Castle is a magical place to get lost in! When the house has feelings and shifts and changes to accommodate each of its inhabitants, that is definitely a place to visit! With a sentient forest that dispenses advice- sometimes helpful, sometimes not- a shifting landscape, and a pure fairytale vibe, Rathe Castle is at the top of my list for magical destinations! Below is one of my favorite quotes describing Rathe Castle:

“On the entire Isle, nothing and no one was more excited about Prince Arris’s tournament of brides than Rathe Castle. Not even Arris’s mother- who had recently fired an atelier for conflating shades of magenta and fuchsia as “practically the same thing” when it came to selecting the color of table napkins- matched the zeal with which the Castle threw itself into planning.”

  1. Caraval in Caraval by Stephanie Garber

“Remember, it’s only a game…” To be lost in the magical, twisty game of Caraval would be amazing. I have dreamed about Caraval for years. It would be such a fun experience with games, intriguing actors, and a magical setting! Similar to the beloved main characters, Scarlett and Tella, I would love to participate with my sister! I may not be the most competitive person, but I would wander the streets, soaking up all the magic and fun in the air. Dark, twisty, and magical- the perfect combination for an interesting trip!

  1. Thisby in The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Probably one of the only places on my list where there is a good chance I would die here, but I still want to go. It feels out of time, hazy and mystical in the best possible way. There’s also a strong melancholic vibe to Thisby, which I just love. It’s a small island town, where everybody knows everyone, and dangerous water horses that people race. The small town vibes, the feeling that you’re losing something but also gaining something makes Thisby a perfect destination for a contemplative trip.

  1. Where a Wizard Goes to Think in The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani

Imagine purple starry skies, fluffy clouds, hot chocolate, and a coziness floating through the air. It sounds lovely, right? That’s what a Where a Wizard Goes to Think is like- peaceful and calm. The only downside is you can’t stay there very long but it sure does sound relaxing!

  1. The village in The Tea Dragon Society by K. O’Neill

Small town, cozy, slower pace. All of this describes the town in The Tea Dragon Society! With lighter colors, flowers, and little dragons this is the perfect destination when you need an escape from the fast pace of everyday life and to take a moment of rest and reflection, preferably with a nice picnic and a cup of tea.

  1. Spindrift in A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal

Who wouldn’t want to go to a mechanical tea shop that serves vampires at night? I may not be the biggest tea drinker, but I would definitely stop at Spindrift for a cup and soak in the hustle and bustle of the city through the shop windows! As the synopsis shares, “Why save the world when you can have tea?” My thoughts exactly!

So what magical place would you want to go to? Tell us in the comments.
